The shipments of the one major exporters of ketones and quinones, namely Brazil, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the ketones and quinones exports, with a CAGR of +5.4% from 2012 to 2021. Brazil (+15 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) also remains the largest ketone and quinone supplier in MERCOSUR.

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a mild slump. In 2021, approx. X tons of ketones and quinones were imported in MERCOSUR; growing by 41% against 2020. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported ketones and quinones in MERCOSUR, comprising 67% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Argentina ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 9.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil amounted to +3.5%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Argentina (+4.1% per year) and Colombia (+1.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -3.9% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the import price increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Colombia ($X per ton) and Argentina ($X per ton), while Peru ($X per ton) and Ecuador ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+3.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
