Lithium-ion accumulator exports reduced rapidly to X units in 2021, falling by -34.9% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, exports recorded a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 210%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, lithium-ion accumulator exports dropped slightly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 61%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Brazil dominates exports structure, finishing at X units, which was near 84% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Chile (X units) and Argentina (X units), together mixing up an 11% share of total exports. Colombia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to lithium-ion accumulator exports from Brazil stood at -17.0%. At the same time, Colombia (+24.1%), Chile (+20.3%) and Argentina (+4.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. In Brazil, lithium-ion accumulator exports plunged by an average annual rate of -10.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (+71.9% per year) and Argentina (+11.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a prominent expansion. In 2021, the amount of lithium-ion accumulators imported in MERCOSUR rose remarkably to X units, growing by 8.1% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

It was distantly followed by Argentina (X units) and Colombia (X units), together mixing up a 14% share of total imports. Chile (X units) and Peru (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Brazil experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of lithium-ion accumulators. At the same time, Chile (+59.8%), Peru (+41.3%) and Colombia (+15.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Chile emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +59.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Argentina (-4.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Chile (+4.2 p.p.), Colombia (+3.3 p.p.) and Peru (+2.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Brazil (-5 p.p.) and Argentina (-6.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
