As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Brazil prevails in exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 86% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons), constituting a 4.8% share of total exports. Chile (X tons), Peru (X tons) and Suriname (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Suriname (+32.1%), Argentina (+3.4%) and Peru (+2.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Suriname emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +32.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Chile (-7.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+8.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Chile saw its share reduced by -7.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest machine-tool for working wood supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Chile ($X), with an 8.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 2.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil stood at +3.9%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Chile (-0.5% per year) and Argentina (-4.3% per year).

Moreover, Ecuador emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +2.9% from 2012-2021. Colombia and Uruguay experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Chile (-1.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Argentina (+3.3 p.p.) and Peru (+2.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Brazil saw its share reduced by -4.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest machine-tool for working wood importing markets in MERCOSUR were Brazil ($X), Chile ($X) and Argentina ($X), with a combined 81% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Colombia, Peru, Uruguay and Ecuador, which together accounted for a further 17%.

Among the main importing countries, Uruguay, with a CAGR of +6.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
