Ecuador was also the fastest-growing in terms of the machinery for liquefying air or gases imports, with a CAGR of +27.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Peru (+19.6%) and Paraguay (+6.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Venezuela (-17.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Ecuador (+68 p.p.) and Paraguay (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Venezuela saw its share reduced by -57.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest air or gas liquefier importing markets in MERCOSUR were Ecuador ($X), Peru ($X) and Venezuela ($X), together accounting for 45% of total imports. These countries were followed by Paraguay, which accounted for a further 1.5%.

Paraguay, with a CAGR of +26.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In 2022, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 83% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, faced a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 793%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2021 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per unit), while Ecuador ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
