As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, electroplating machine exports shrank sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 826% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Uruguay dominates exports structure, amounting to X units, which was approx. 94% of total exports in 2021. Brazil (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Uruguay was also the fastest-growing in terms of the machines for electroplating, electrolysis or electrophoresis exports, with a CAGR of +27.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Brazil (+6.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Uruguay (+22 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Brazil (-7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Uruguay ($X) emerged as the largest electroplating machine supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a 20% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Uruguay totaled +27.2%.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, declining by -73.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the export price increased by 328%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Uruguay totaled $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (-0.1%).

After four years of growth, supplies from abroad of machines for electroplating, electrolysis or electrophoresis decreased by -14.5% to X units in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 583%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, electroplating machine imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a pronounced increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 193% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Argentina (X units), distantly followed by Brazil (X units), Chile (X units), Ecuador (X units), Paraguay (X units), Peru (X units) and Uruguay (X units) were the main importers of machines for electroplating, electrolysis or electrophoresis, together committing 96% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Argentina (with a CAGR of +71.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported machines for electroplating, electrolysis or electrophoresis in MERCOSUR, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Chile ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Argentina, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil stood at +2.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (+23.0% per year) and Argentina (-3.5% per year).

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 118%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Ecuador ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+18.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
