Exports in MERCOSUR

In 2022, overseas shipments of microphones and their stands increased by 26% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 40%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, microphone exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a mild slump. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Chile (X units) and Brazil (X units) dominates exports structure, together making up 89% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X units), achieving a 4.8% share of total exports. Peru (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Colombia (with a CAGR of +4.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, the largest microphone supplying countries in MERCOSUR were Chile ($X), Brazil ($X) and Colombia ($X), with a combined 97% share of total exports.

Brazil, with a CAGR of +6.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, rising by 12% against the previous year. Export price indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, microphone export price increased by +73.8% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the export price increased by 36%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Peru ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+6.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2022, approx. X units of microphones and their stands were imported in MERCOSUR; approximately mirroring 2021. Total imports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +44.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 43%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, microphone imports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Brazil (X units) represented the major importer of microphones and their stands, committing 53% of total imports. Argentina (X units) took a 14% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Peru (12%), Colombia (9.3%) and Ecuador (6.2%). Paraguay (X units) and Chile (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the microphones and their stands imports, with a CAGR of +4.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Peru (+3.9%), Colombia (+1.7%) and Argentina (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Ecuador (-2.3%), Chile (-4.1%) and Paraguay (-5.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Brazil and Peru increased by +15 and +2.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported microphones and their stands in MERCOSUR, comprising 45% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Chile, with a 13% share.

In Brazil, microphone imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Argentina (+0.4% per year) and Chile (+0.7% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, waning by -12.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a slight setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the import price increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Ecuador ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
