In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in the MERCOSUR mould for glass market, when its value increased by 15% to $X. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

For the fifth consecutive year, MERCOSUR recorded decline in shipments abroad of moulds for glass, which decreased by -43.3% to X units in 2021. Overall, exports saw a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 4.2%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, mould for glass exports shrank remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a precipitous decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 10%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Brazil (X units) was the largest exporter of moulds for glass, achieving 62% of total exports. Argentina (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Colombia (X units) and Chile (X units). All these countries together held approx. 33% share of total exports. The following exporters - Peru (X units) and Ecuador (X units) - together made up 5.6% of total exports.

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the moulds for glass exports, with a CAGR of +5.0% from 2012 to 2021. Argentina (-8.3%), Chile (-12.2%), Ecuador (-16.1%), Peru (-17.0%) and Colombia (-31.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+53 p.p.), Argentina (+9.1 p.p.) and Chile (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Colombia saw its share reduced by -63.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest mould for glass supplying countries in MERCOSUR were Brazil ($X), Colombia ($X) and Argentina ($X), together accounting for 95% of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Brazil, with a CAGR of -1.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, declining by -45.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 22%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per unit), while Chile ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+3.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of moulds for glass increased by 13% to X units, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, mould for glass imports expanded notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 15%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Chile represented the major importer of moulds for glass in MERCOSUR, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was near 41% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X units), Argentina (X units), Brazil (X units) and Peru (X units), together generating a 51% share of total imports. The following importers - Venezuela (X units) and Ecuador (X units) - together made up 7.6% of total imports.

Imports into Chile increased at an average annual rate of +12.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Colombia (+18.5%), Argentina (+9.9%), Brazil (+3.6%) and Peru (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +18.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Ecuador (-2.0%) and Venezuela (-13.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Chile, Colombia and Argentina increased by +18, +9.3 and +3.8 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, the largest mould for glass importing markets in MERCOSUR were Chile ($X), Colombia ($X) and Brazil ($X), together comprising 62% of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Colombia, with a CAGR of +12.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -2.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the import price increased by 11%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
