In 2022, mushroom and truffle exports in MERCOSUR reduced to X tons, declining by -7.8% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 5%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Colombia dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 84% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons), comprising an 8.5% share of total exports. Argentina (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Colombia decreased at an average annual rate of -9.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Brazil (+64.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brazil emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +64.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Argentina (-11.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+8.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Colombia (-4.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Colombia ($X) remains the largest mushroom and truffle supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 27% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a 5.8% share of total exports.
In Colombia, mushroom and truffle exports plunged by an average annual rate of -11.7% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (+17.3% per year) and Argentina (-7.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 32% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 32% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per ton), while Colombia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+4.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR
After two years of decline, purchases abroad of mushrooms and truffles increased by 24% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 367% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, mushroom and truffle imports rose significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 157% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Guyana (X tons), distantly followed by Brazil (X tons), Chile (X tons), Ecuador (X tons), Suriname (X tons) and Peru (X tons) were the key importers of mushrooms and truffles, together committing 94% of total imports. Uruguay (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Chile (with a CAGR of +47.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Brazil ($X), Chile ($X) and Guyana ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 66% of total imports. Uruguay, Ecuador, Peru and Suriname lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.
Among the main importing countries, Ecuador, with a CAGR of +33.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -7.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 95%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
