The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Peru prevails in exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 85% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Chile (X tons), constituting a 9.3% share of total exports. Ecuador (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Peru was also the fastest-growing in terms of the dried mushrooms and truffles exports, with a CAGR of +27.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Ecuador (+14.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Chile (-19.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Peru (+77 p.p.) and Ecuador (+2.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Chile (-77.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Peru ($X) remains the largest dried mushroom supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Chile ($X), with a 26% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Peru amounted to +27.0%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Chile (-11.8% per year) and Ecuador (+6.2% per year).

In 2022, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 1.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a slight contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the export price increased by 45%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while Ecuador ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Dried Mushroom Imports
Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2022, the amount of dried mushrooms and truffles imported in MERCOSUR declined sharply to X tons, which is down by -24.8% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
In value terms, dried mushroom imports shrank rapidly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 96%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped notably in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Brazil (X tons), distantly followed by Argentina (X tons), Peru (X tons), Chile (X tons) and Colombia (X tons) were the largest importers of dried mushrooms and truffles, together comprising 94% of total imports. Uruguay (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Chile (with a CAGR of +10.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Brazil ($X), Argentina ($X) and Peru ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 75% share of total imports. Chile, Colombia and Uruguay lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Chile, with a CAGR of +11.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 3.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 22% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per ton), while Uruguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
