Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-woven glass fibre articles exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a pronounced descent. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Colombia (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) dominates exports structure, together committing 95% of total exports. Brazil (X tons) and Chile (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Argentina (with a CAGR of -1.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
In value terms, Colombia ($X), Argentina ($X) and Brazil ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 98% share of total exports.
Colombia, with a CAGR of -0.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the export price increased by 12%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Argentina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+3.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2021, purchases abroad of non-woven glass fibre webs, felts, mattresses and boards increased by 25% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 26%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-woven glass fibre articles imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a slight descent. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Chile was the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which accounted for 51% of total imports. Brazil (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Peru (X tons), Uruguay (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 44% share of total imports. Argentina (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
Chile was also the fastest-growing in terms of the non-woven glass fibre webs, felts, mattresses and boards imports, with a CAGR of +2.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uruguay (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Brazil experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Peru (-6.9%), Ecuador (-7.0%) and Argentina (-19.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Chile (+19 p.p.), Brazil (+3 p.p.) and Uruguay (+2.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Ecuador, Peru and Argentina saw its share reduced by -3.6%, -4.6% and -7.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Chile ($X), Brazil ($X) and Peru ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 83% of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Brazil, with a CAGR of +3.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 11% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+4.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
