Exports by Country
Brazil dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 95% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - Colombia (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) - together made up 4.2% of total exports.
Exports from Brazil decreased at an average annual rate of -15.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Argentina (+35.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Argentina emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +35.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Colombia (-28.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+13 p.p.) and Argentina (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Colombia saw its share reduced by -7.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest cyclic hydrocarbons supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 94% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Argentina ($X), with a 2.4% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil totaled -14.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Argentina (+17.2% per year) and Colombia (-31.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 22% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per ton), while Colombia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+1.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2021, after two years of decline, there was growth in purchases abroad of other cyclic hydrocarbons, when their volume increased by 1.1% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 104%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, cyclic hydrocarbons imports rose slightly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 73%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Brazil (X tons) represented the key importer of other cyclic hydrocarbons, achieving 41% of total imports. Uruguay (X tons) held a 22% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Chile (14%), Argentina (11%) and Ecuador (5%). Peru (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ecuador (with a CAGR of +26.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported other cyclic hydrocarbons in MERCOSUR, comprising 45% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uruguay ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 9.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil amounted to -3.8%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uruguay (-0.1% per year) and Argentina (-9.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the import price increased by 21%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
