The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -22.4% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 39%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, assembled parquet panels exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -20.6% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 37%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Brazil represented the major exporting country with an export of around X tons, which recorded 63% of total exports. Paraguay (X tons) took a 26% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Peru (9.1%).

Exports from Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Paraguay (+25.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Paraguay emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +25.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Peru (-4.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Paraguay (+21 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Brazil (-5.5 p.p.) and Peru (-10.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest assembled parquet panels supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Paraguay ($X), with a 29% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil totaled +1.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Paraguay (+23.3% per year) and Peru (-4.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the export price increased by 3.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Paraguay ($X per ton), while Peru ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (-0.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of assembled parquet panels, when their volume increased by 43% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 293% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, assembled parquet panels imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Chile was the largest importer of assembled parquet panels in MERCOSUR, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was approx. 54% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X tons), Argentina (X tons), Ecuador (X tons) and Peru (X tons), together comprising a 40% share of total imports. Brazil (X tons) held a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to assembled parquet panels imports into Chile stood at -4.8%. At the same time, Argentina (+8.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Argentina emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +8.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Brazil (-3.8%), Peru (-3.8%), Ecuador (-4.0%) and Colombia (-10.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Argentina increased by +7.8 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Chile ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported assembled parquet panels in MERCOSUR, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Colombia, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Chile stood at -2.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Argentina (+10.4% per year) and Colombia (-7.7% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, waning by -8.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, posted a notable expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the import price increased by 172%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then declined in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Ecuador ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
