The MERCOSUR boiler parts market amounted to $X in 2021, approximately reflecting the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. In 2021, shipments abroad of parts of boilers for central heating increased by 19% to X tons, rising for the fourth consecutive year after four years of decline. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 320% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, boiler parts exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 442%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Chile was the main exporter of parts of boilers for central heating in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. 75% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons), together mixing up a 20% share of total exports. Colombia (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.
Chile was also the fastest-growing in terms of the parts of boilers for central heating exports, with a CAGR of +38.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Ecuador (+23.0%) and Brazil (+6.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Colombia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Chile (+57 p.p.) and Ecuador (+6.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Colombia (-8.5 p.p.) and Brazil (-21 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Chile ($X) remains the largest boiler parts supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a 9% share of total exports. It was followed by Ecuador, with a 2.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Chile stood at +43.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (-4.3% per year) and Ecuador (+4.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 23% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while Ecuador ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+3.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
Boiler Parts Imports
Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2021, overseas purchases of parts of boilers for central heating were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 56% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, boiler parts imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 78% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Chile (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and Venezuela (X tons) was the largest importer of parts of boilers for central heating in MERCOSUR, constituting 84% of total import. Colombia (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 7.3% share, followed by Ecuador (4.7%). Brazil (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Colombia (with a CAGR of +17.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
In value terms, Chile ($X), Venezuela ($X) and Argentina ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 75% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Colombia, Ecuador and Brazil, which together accounted for a further 19%.
Colombia, with a CAGR of +22.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 3.1% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 48% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Argentina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+15.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
