In value terms, Brazil ($X), Argentina ($X) and Chile ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 88% share of total imports. Paraguay, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 9.5%.
Peru, with a CAGR of +18.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, stabilizing at the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 5.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Ecuador ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
