Argentina (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) dominates exports structure, together mixing up 89% of total exports. Uruguay (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 5.5% share, followed by Chile (5%).

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Uruguay (with a CAGR of +57.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest meat, fish or cheese pasta supplying countries in MERCOSUR were Brazil ($X), Argentina ($X) and Uruguay ($X), with a combined 94% share of total exports.

Uruguay, with a CAGR of +51.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 5.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uruguay ($X per ton), while Argentina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (-1.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

After six years of growth, purchases abroad of pasta stuffed with meat, fish and cheese decreased by -7.3% to X tons in 2022. Total imports indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +53.4% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 16%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, meat, fish or cheese pasta imports declined slightly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +60.1% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.

Chile represented the key importing country with an import of about X tons, which recorded 44% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons), Uruguay (X tons), Paraguay (X tons) and Colombia (X tons), together generating a 49% share of total imports. Peru (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Peru (with a CAGR of +11.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest meat, fish or cheese pasta importing markets in MERCOSUR were Chile ($X), Brazil ($X) and Colombia ($X), together accounting for 82% of total imports. Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru and Ecuador lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 17%.

Among the main importing countries, Peru, with a CAGR of +13.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 2.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw mild growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 7.9% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per ton), while Paraguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
