From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the four major exporters of pedestrian-controlled tractors, namely Chile, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina, represented more than two-thirds of total export. It was distantly followed by Suriname (X units), mixing up an 8.9% share of total exports. Peru (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Chile (with a CAGR of +47.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest pedestrian-controlled tractor supplying countries in MERCOSUR were Chile ($X), Argentina ($X) and Brazil ($X), together comprising 80% of total exports.

Chile, with a CAGR of +74.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -34.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a mild expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 78%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Peru ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+16.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2022, supplies from abroad of pedestrian-controlled tractors increased by 9.3% to X units, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 51%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, pedestrian-controlled tractor imports soared to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +58.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, Guyana (X units), distantly followed by Peru (X units), Brazil (X units), Argentina (X units), Suriname (X units) and Ecuador (X units) represented the main importers of pedestrian-controlled tractors, together creating 93% of total imports. Chile (X units) held a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Argentina (with a CAGR of +20.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Guyana ($X), Argentina ($X) and Brazil ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 56% of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Argentina, with a CAGR of +20.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, surging by 5.4% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the import price increased by 19%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
