Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, plastic furniture fittings exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Brazil prevails in exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 85% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Chile (X tons), comprising an 8.1% share of total exports. Colombia (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to plastic furniture fittings exports from Brazil stood at -1.8%. Colombia (-1.8%), Chile (-4.3%) and Argentina (-29.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+26 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Argentina (-26.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest plastic furniture fittings supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 3.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 3.1% share.
In Brazil, plastic furniture fittings exports shrank by an average annual rate of -4.6% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (-18.5% per year) and Argentina (-27.8% per year).

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 17% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible setback. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2021, supplies from abroad of plastic fittings for furniture increased by 36% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, plastic furniture fittings imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Brazil (X tons) was the key importer of plastic fittings for furniture, mixing up 54% of total imports. Argentina (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Chile (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 32% share of total imports. The following importers - Ecuador (X tons), Colombia (X tons), Paraguay (X tons) and Peru (X tons) - together made up 12% of total imports.
