In 2022, the amount of potato chips exported in MERCOSUR skyrocketed to X tons, with an increase of 16% compared with the previous year's figure. Exports by Country
Argentina dominates exports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 69% of total exports in 2022. Peru (X tons) held a 9.4% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Brazil (8.5%), Colombia (7.5%) and Chile (4.8%).
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to potato chips exports from Argentina stood at -3.2%. At the same time, Peru (+12.5%), Brazil (+10.3%) and Chile (+7.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +12.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Colombia (-9.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Peru, Brazil and Chile increased by +7.1, +6 and +3 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Argentina ($X) remains the largest potato chips supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 59% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Peru ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Argentina totaled -4.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Peru (+11.8% per year) and Brazil (+8.5% per year).

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, leveling off at the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 22% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while Argentina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The following importers - Guyana (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) - each amounted to a 7.2% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Guyana (with a CAGR of +8.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest potato chips importing markets in MERCOSUR were Uruguay ($X), Chile ($X) and Brazil ($X), with a combined 74% share of total imports. Colombia, Paraguay, Guyana and Argentina lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 23%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Colombia, with a CAGR of +9.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 8.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a perceptible contraction.
