Exports by Country
Brazil represented the key exporting country with an export of around X units, which reached 69% of total exports. Chile (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Argentina (X units). All these countries together held near 21% share of total exports. Paraguay (X units), Colombia (X units) and Venezuela (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Brazil decreased at an average annual rate of -9.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Paraguay (+18.9%), Chile (+14.6%) and Venezuela (+11.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Paraguay emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +18.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Argentina (-11.4%) and Colombia (-12.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Chile (+11 p.p.) and Paraguay (+3.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Argentina and Brazil saw its share reduced by -3.9% and -7.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest prefabricated buildings supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 24% share of total exports. It was followed by Colombia, with an 8.1% share.
In Brazil, prefabricated buildings exports decreased by an average annual rate of -20.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (+10.2% per year) and Colombia (-6.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 65%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, prefabricated buildings imports stood at $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 71% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Chile represented the largest importer of prefabricated buildings in MERCOSUR, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was near 41% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Peru (X units), Colombia (X units), Uruguay (X units), Argentina (X units) and Brazil (X units), together committing a 47% share of total imports. Guyana (X units) held a minor share of total imports.
Imports into Chile increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Guyana (+12.9%) and Peru (+8.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Guyana emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +12.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Uruguay (-1.0%), Colombia (-1.1%), Argentina (-3.4%) and Brazil (-18.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Chile, Peru, Colombia, Uruguay, Guyana and Argentina increased by +25, +14, +4.9, +3.5, +3.3 and +2 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Chile ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported prefabricated buildings in MERCOSUR, comprising 32% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Peru ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Chile was relatively modest. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Peru (+3.0% per year) and Colombia (-1.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, flattening at the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight contraction.
