In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms, when their volume decreased by -18.9% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports saw a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 19%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, room deodorants exports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, exports recorded a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 19%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Argentina was the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which recorded 69% of total exports. Peru (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Chile (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 19% share of total exports. Brazil (X tons), Uruguay (X tons) and Colombia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Argentina decreased at an average annual rate of -4.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uruguay (+23.8%), Chile (+11.2%), Peru (+3.2%) and Brazil (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uruguay emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +23.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Colombia (-11.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Peru (+6.4 p.p.), Chile (+3.9 p.p.), Uruguay (+3.4 p.p.) and Brazil (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Colombia (-2.7 p.p.) and Argentina (-13.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Argentina ($X) remains the largest room deodorants supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 54% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Peru ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 9.2% share.
In Argentina, room deodorants exports declined by an average annual rate of -7.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Peru (+2.1% per year) and Brazil (+11.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 4.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 12%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Argentina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+8.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms, when their volume decreased by -26.7% to X tons. Total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
In value terms, room deodorants imports contracted remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 54% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
Imports by Country
Chile represented the main importer of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms in MERCOSUR, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 51% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X tons), Uruguay (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and Brazil (X tons), together achieving a 34% share of total imports. The following importers - Ecuador (X tons), Peru (X tons) and Venezuela (X tons) - together made up 10% of total imports.
Chile was also the fastest-growing in terms of the preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms imports, with a CAGR of +10.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uruguay (+4.1%), Colombia (+2.6%) and Argentina (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Peru experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Ecuador (-3.8%), Brazil (-6.8%) and Venezuela (-10.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Chile (+26 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Ecuador (-3.6 p.p.), Venezuela (-8.2 p.p.) and Brazil (-10.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Chile ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms in MERCOSUR, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Colombia ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Argentina, with an 8.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Chile amounted to +5.0%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Colombia (+3.0% per year) and Argentina (+0.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 12% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 13%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Venezuela ($X per ton), while Uruguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
