Brazil was the key exporter of prepared dishes and meals in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was near 53% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X tons), Chile (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and Peru (X tons), together mixing up a 43% share of total exports.

Exports from Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Peru (+17.2%) and Colombia (+3.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +17.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Argentina (-3.9%) and Chile (-9.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Brazil, Peru and Colombia increased by +18, +4.9 and +2.9 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest prepared dish and meal supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 49% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (-8.3% per year) and Colombia (+4.0% per year).

The countries with the highest levels of prepared dish and meal imports in 2021 were Colombia (X tons), Brazil (X tons), Chile (X tons), Peru (X tons), Argentina (X tons), Venezuela (X tons), Ecuador (X tons) and Paraguay (X tons), together resulting at 94% of total import.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Peru (with a CAGR of +7.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest prepared dish and meal importing markets in MERCOSUR were Colombia ($X), Brazil ($X) and Peru ($X), together accounting for 51% of total imports. Chile, Ecuador, Argentina, Venezuela and Paraguay lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 45%.

Chile, with a CAGR of +9.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 3.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 8.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ecuador ($X per ton), while Venezuela ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
