The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 18%. In 2022, exports of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings in MERCOSUR declined to X square meters, reducing by -6.1% on the previous year. Overall, exports saw a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 25%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum at X square meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, exports of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Brazil represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X square meters, which finished at 58% of total exports. Peru (X square meters) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 25% share, followed by Colombia (8.7%). The following exporters - Chile (X square meters) and Ecuador (X square meters) - each recorded a 5% share of total exports.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 66% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Colombia ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Peru, with an 11% share.

In Brazil, exports of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings increased at an average annual rate of +10.2% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Colombia (-9.2% per year) and Peru (-11.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per square meter in 2022, growing by 15% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per square meter in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per square meter), while Peru ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+6.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2022, the amount of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings imported in MERCOSUR dropped to X square meters, with a decrease of -8.7% on the year before. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X square meters, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, imports of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings declined slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 52% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, leveling off in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Brazil (X square meters), Chile (X square meters) and Argentina (X square meters) represented the major importer of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings in MERCOSUR, making up 77% of total import. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X square meters), mixing up a 9.3% share of total imports. Peru (X square meters), Ecuador (X square meters) and Uruguay (X square meters) held a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Argentina (with a CAGR of +20.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per square meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Brazil ($X per square meter) and Peru ($X per square meter), while Colombia ($X per square meter) and Ecuador ($X per square meter) were amongst the lowest.
