The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 507% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, radar apparatus exports rose to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 101% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Ecuador was the key exporter of radar apparatus in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 59% of total exports in 2021. Chile (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Peru (X tons), Brazil (X tons) and Colombia (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 40% share of total exports.
Exports from Ecuador increased at an average annual rate of +14.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Peru (+48.0%) and Chile (+21.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +48.0% from 2012-2021. Brazil experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Colombia (-13.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Ecuador (+34 p.p.), Peru (+10 p.p.) and Chile (+9.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Brazil (-4.3 p.p.) and Colombia (-29 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Brazil ($X), Colombia ($X) and Chile ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 91% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Ecuador and Peru, which together accounted for a further 8.3%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Peru, with a CAGR of +38.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, the export price showed a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 324% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per ton), while Ecuador ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia (+5.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2021, supplies from abroad of radar apparatus increased by 39% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 58%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, radar apparatus imports contracted sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 150% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Brazil was the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which reached 42% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons), Chile (X tons), Peru (X tons) and Colombia (X tons), together making up a 50% share of total imports. Paraguay (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Peru (+7.2%) and Paraguay (+4.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +7.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Argentina (-1.6%), Chile (-2.5%), Colombia (-7.8%) and Ecuador (-27.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+26 p.p.), Peru (+9.3 p.p.), Argentina (+7.1 p.p.), Chile (+5.8 p.p.) and Paraguay (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Ecuador (-16.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported radar apparatus in MERCOSUR, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Chile ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil stood at -2.0%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Chile (+0.2% per year) and Argentina (-6.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, which is down by -57.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a slight contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 84%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Paraguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
