Radio Receiver Market Size in MERCOSUR
In 2022, after two years of growth, there was decline in the MERCOSUR radio receiver market, when its value decreased by -4.6% to $X. Over the period under review, consumption saw a mild downturn. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Radio Receiver Production in MERCOSUR
In value terms, radio receiver production reduced slightly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, showed a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the production volume increased by 3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in MERCOSUR
In 2022, overseas shipments of radio receivers increased by 24% to X units, rising for the third year in a row after five years of decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a deep slump. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, radio receiver exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep contraction. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Brazil represented the largest exporter of radio receivers in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports reaching X units, which was approx. 60% of total exports in 2022. Chile (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Argentina (X units). All these countries together held approx. 32% share of total exports. Uruguay (X units) and Peru (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to radio receiver exports from Brazil stood at -2.9%. At the same time, Uruguay (+12.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uruguay emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +12.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Peru (-8.1%), Chile (-9.5%) and Argentina (-17.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Brazil and Uruguay increased by +25 and +2.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest radio receiver supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Chile ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 6% share.
In Brazil, radio receiver exports decreased by an average annual rate of -4.1% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Chile (-10.5% per year) and Argentina (-19.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 21% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Peru ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+1.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Radio Receiver Imports
Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2022, overseas purchases of radio receivers decreased by -23.4% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports showed a slight slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 46% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, radio receiver imports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 42%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Brazil (X units) represented the largest importer of radio receivers, achieving 45% of total imports. Argentina (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Colombia (X units), Chile (X units) and Peru (X units). All these countries together took approx. 49% share of total imports. The following importers - Ecuador (X units) and Venezuela (X units) - each finished at a 3.5% share of total imports.
Imports into Brazil decreased at an average annual rate of -3.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Colombia (+6.9%) and Argentina (+4.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +6.9% from 2012-2022. Peru and Chile experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Ecuador (-2.7%) and Venezuela (-5.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Colombia (+7 p.p.), Argentina (+6.8 p.p.) and Peru (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Brazil saw its share reduced by -9.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported radio receivers in MERCOSUR, comprising 46% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Colombia, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil stood at +1.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Argentina (-2.7% per year) and Colombia (-4.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, rising by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per unit), while Venezuela ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
