Over the period under review, exports recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 40%. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exports stood at $X in 2022. In general, exports saw a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 36%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Peru represented the key exporter of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 69% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Chile (X tons), creating a 30% share of total exports.

Peru was also the fastest-growing in terms of the raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries exports, with a CAGR of +69.2% from 2012 to 2022. In 2022, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -4.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 15%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while Chile stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (-3.0%).

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2022, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports in MERCOSUR surged to X tons, growing by 97% on 2021. In general, imports enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 168% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded resilient growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Brazil represented the key importer of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries in MERCOSUR, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was near 52% of total imports in 2022. Argentina (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 31% share, followed by Chile (8.6%) and Uruguay (4.9%). Guyana (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In 2022, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -6.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 41% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Guyana ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
