Copper Sanitary Ware Market Size in MERCOSUR

The MERCOSUR copper sanitary ware market rose markedly to $X in 2021, increasing by 5.4% against the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, overseas shipments of sanitary ware and parts of copper increased by 86% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, recorded a perceptible downturn. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, copper sanitary ware exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

Exports by Country

Brazil prevails in exports structure, recording X tons, which was near 87% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons), creating a 5.9% share of total exports. The following exporters - Peru (X tons) and Chile (X tons) - together made up 4.8% of total exports.

Exports from Brazil decreased at an average annual rate of -1.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Chile (+8.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Chile emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +8.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Argentina (-3.6%) and Peru (-21.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+17 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Peru saw its share reduced by -14.7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest copper sanitary ware supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 86% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with a 9.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Chile, with a 2.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Argentina (-1.0% per year) and Chile (+23.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, falling by -6.2% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while Peru ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+13.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of sanitary ware and parts of copper, when their volume increased by 75% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, copper sanitary ware imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Colombia (X tons), Chile (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) represented roughly 73% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Ecuador (X tons) and Paraguay (X tons), together comprising a 16% share of total imports. The following importers - Argentina (X tons) and Uruguay (X tons) - together made up 6% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Paraguay (with a CAGR of +12.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Colombia ($X), Brazil ($X) and Chile ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 68% of total imports. Paraguay, Ecuador, Argentina and Uruguay lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.

Among the main importing countries, Paraguay, with a CAGR of +9.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 3.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 10%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Paraguay ($X per ton), while Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
