In value terms, agricultural self-loading trailer exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, faced a abrupt shrinkage. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Brazil dominates exports structure, recording X units, which was near 81% of total exports in 2021. Argentina (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Colombia (X units). All these countries together took approx. 17% share of total exports.

Brazil experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of self-loading or self-unloading trailers for agricultural purposes. At the same time, Colombia (+18.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +18.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Argentina (-24.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+38 p.p.) and Colombia (+6.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Argentina (-46 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest agricultural self-loading trailer supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Argentina ($X), with a 14% share of total exports.

In Brazil, agricultural self-loading trailer exports contracted by an average annual rate of -9.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Argentina (-24.7% per year) and Colombia (+14.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 1.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 11%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per unit), while Brazil ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (-0.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2021, overseas purchases of self-loading or self-unloading trailers for agricultural purposes increased by 50% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, saw a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 57%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, agricultural self-loading trailer imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Paraguay represented the major importer of self-loading or self-unloading trailers for agricultural purposes in MERCOSUR, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was approx. 44% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Chile (X units), Uruguay (X units) and Ecuador (X units), together achieving a 45% share of total imports. The following importers - Argentina (X units) and Peru (X units) - together made up 5.9% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ecuador (with a CAGR of +13.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest agricultural self-loading trailer importing markets in MERCOSUR were Paraguay ($X), Chile ($X) and Uruguay ($X), with a combined 81% share of total imports. Ecuador, Argentina and Peru lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 15%.

Ecuador, with a CAGR of +6.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, rising by 8.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 12% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per unit), while Paraguay ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
