Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the sheep, goat, swine or reptile leather, excluding chamois leather imports, with a CAGR of +2.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Ecuador (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Colombia (-7.7%), Chile (-12.1%), Argentina (-13.8%) and Venezuela (-15.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+31 p.p.) and Ecuador (+4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Venezuela (-4.3 p.p.), Chile (-7.1 p.p.) and Argentina (-11.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported sheep, goat, swine or reptile leather, excluding chamois leather in MERCOSUR, comprising 55% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Venezuela, with a 6.3% share.
