Exports by Country
Brazil was the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which amounted to 54% of total exports. Colombia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Chile (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 43% share of total exports. Venezuela (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to sheet piling exports from Brazil stood at +32.4%. At the same time, Venezuela (+40.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Venezuela emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +40.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Colombia (-15.9%) and Chile (-17.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+52 p.p.) and Venezuela (+2.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Colombia and Chile saw its share reduced by -21.2% and -27.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest sheet piling supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Chile ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Colombia, with an 18% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil stood at +12.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Chile (-13.0% per year) and Colombia (-15.2% per year).

In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, rising by 13% against the previous year. Export price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. In 2021, overseas purchases of sheet piling, shapes and sections (of iron or steel) decreased by -13.3% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports showed a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 69% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country
In 2021, Brazil (X tons) represented the main importer of sheet piling, shapes and sections (of iron or steel), comprising 42% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons), Uruguay (X tons), Peru (X tons) and Suriname (X tons), together creating a 48% share of total imports. The following importers - Chile (X tons) and Colombia (X tons) - together made up 6.9% of total imports.
Imports into Brazil decreased at an average annual rate of -7.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uruguay (+63.2%), Argentina (+3.4%) and Suriname (+3.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uruguay emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +63.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Peru (-1.0%), Colombia (-10.0%) and Chile (-16.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Uruguay (+16 p.p.), Argentina (+9.1 p.p.), Suriname (+3.9 p.p.) and Peru (+3.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Brazil (-6.7 p.p.) and Chile (-7.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported sheet piling, shapes and sections (of iron or steel) in MERCOSUR, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uruguay ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 14% share.
In Brazil, sheet piling imports plunged by an average annual rate of -7.6% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uruguay (+51.8% per year) and Argentina (+4.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
