In value terms, ski-suit exports fell remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 277% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Peru (X units) was the main exporter of ski-suits (excluding of knitted or crocheted textiles), committing 54% of total exports. Chile (X units) held a 20% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Colombia (12%) and Brazil (9.4%). Argentina (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Peru was also the fastest-growing in terms of the ski-suits (excluding of knitted or crocheted textiles) exports, with a CAGR of +10.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Colombia (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Argentina experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Brazil (-5.4%) and Chile (-11.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Peru (+35 p.p.) and Colombia (+2.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Brazil (-4.2 p.p.) and Chile (-32.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest ski-suit supplying countries in MERCOSUR were Peru ($X), Chile ($X) and Colombia ($X), together accounting for 77% of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Peru, with a CAGR of +10.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 276% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a abrupt setback. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per unit), while Peru ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+5.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

For the third year in a row, MERCOSUR recorded decline in purchases abroad of ski-suits (excluding of knitted or crocheted textiles), which decreased by -4.7% to X units in 2021. Overall, imports saw a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 90% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, ski-suit imports fell to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 55%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Chile prevails in imports structure, resulting at X units, which was near 88% of total imports in 2021. Colombia (X units), Peru (X units) and Venezuela (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

Chile experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of ski-suits (excluding of knitted or crocheted textiles). Colombia (-1.7%), Peru (-6.1%) and Venezuela (-10.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Chile (+9.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Peru (-1.7 p.p.) and Venezuela (-2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Chile ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported ski-suits (excluding of knitted or crocheted textiles) in MERCOSUR, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Colombia ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Peru, with a 5.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Chile stood at -6.6%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Colombia (-1.6% per year) and Peru (-2.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2021, falling by -9.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per unit), while Chile ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
