In 2022, spray guns and similar appliances exports in MERCOSUR soared to X units, jumping by 40% on the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 85%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, spray guns and similar appliances exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 53%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the three major exporters of spray guns and similar appliances, namely Brazil, Chile and Colombia, represented more than two-thirds of total export. The following exporters - Argentina (X units) and Peru (X units) - each recorded a 4.1% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Peru (with a CAGR of +83.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, Brazil ($X), Chile ($X) and Colombia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 94% share of total exports. Argentina and Peru lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 5.7%.

Among the main exporting countries, Peru, with a CAGR of +79.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2022, with a decrease of -8.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 28% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per unit), while Peru ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia (+5.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of spray guns and similar appliances, when their volume decreased by -13% to X units. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 46%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then reduced in the following year.

Imports by Country

Brazil represented the main importing country with an import of about X units, which amounted to 36% of total imports. Peru (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Argentina (X units), Colombia (X units), Ecuador (X units) and Chile (X units). All these countries together took near 56% share of total imports. Suriname (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to spray guns and similar appliances imports into Brazil stood at +2.9%. At the same time, Suriname (+12.2%), Peru (+5.4%), Chile (+3.0%) and Ecuador (+2.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Suriname emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +12.2% from 2012-2022. Colombia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Argentina (-2.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+7.4 p.p.), Peru (+5.7 p.p.), Suriname (+1.7 p.p.) and Chile (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Argentina (-5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported spray guns and similar appliances in MERCOSUR, comprising 37% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil amounted to +1.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (+5.5% per year) and Argentina (-1.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Suriname ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
