The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Brazil dominates exports structure, recording X units, which was near 95% of total exports in 2021. Argentina (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to stainless steel sink exports from Brazil stood at +4.4%. At the same time, Argentina (+5.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Argentina emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +5.6% from 2012-2021. While the share of Brazil (+5.8 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest stainless steel sink supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Argentina ($X), with a 6.4% share of total exports.

In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 15% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per unit), while Brazil stood at $X per unit.

Peru (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Colombia (X units), Ecuador (X units), Brazil (X units), Argentina (X units) and Paraguay (X units). All these countries together held approx. 56% share of total imports.

Imports into Chile increased at an average annual rate of +10.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Brazil (+25.5%), Peru (+17.2%), Colombia (+10.8%), Paraguay (+9.1%), Ecuador (+5.9%) and Argentina (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brazil emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +25.5% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Chile, Peru, Brazil and Colombia increased by +8.6, +7.9, +7.4 and +2.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Chile ($X), Peru ($X) and Brazil ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 64% share of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Brazil, with a CAGR of +20.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the import price showed a mild reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 3.9% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Colombia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
