Exports in MERCOSUR

In 2022, approx. X units of swivel seats with variable height adjustments were exported in MERCOSUR; which is down by -63.6% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports recorded a abrupt decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 37%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, swivel seat exports fell sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 36%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Brazil was the largest exporter of swivel seats with variable height adjustments in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports recording X units, which was near 70% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X units), Peru (X units) and Argentina (X units), together constituting a 29% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to swivel seat exports from Brazil stood at -2.6%. At the same time, Peru (+61.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +61.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Colombia (-4.3%) and Argentina (-30.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+38 p.p.), Peru (+11 p.p.) and Colombia (+6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Argentina saw its share reduced by -56.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest swivel seat supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Colombia ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Peru, with an 8.6% share.

In Brazil, swivel seat exports shrank by an average annual rate of -8.2% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Colombia (-5.1% per year) and Peru (+51.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 12% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the export price increased by 24%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per unit), while Peru ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+8.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR

After two years of growth, overseas purchases of swivel seats with variable height adjustments decreased by -15.8% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 60%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, swivel seat imports contracted dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 111%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

Imports by Country

Brazil was the key importer of swivel seats with variable height adjustments in MERCOSUR, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was approx. 46% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Chile (X units), Colombia (X units), Peru (X units) and Argentina (X units), together committing a 49% share of total imports. Ecuador (X units) took a minor share of total imports.

Imports into Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Chile (+9.0%), Peru (+7.6%), Ecuador (+6.7%), Colombia (+4.8%) and Argentina (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Chile emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +9.0% from 2012-2022. While the share of Chile (+6.5 p.p.) and Peru (+3.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Brazil (-1.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported swivel seats with variable height adjustments in MERCOSUR, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil amounted to +10.5%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Chile (+12.1% per year) and Colombia (+4.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by 32% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per unit), while Ecuador ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+6.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
