Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 19%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, tap and valve exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a slight decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 32% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Brazil (X tons) was the main exporter of taps, cocks, valves and similar appliances, achieving 62% of total exports. Argentina (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Colombia (X tons) and Chile (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 35% share of total exports.
Brazil experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of taps, cocks, valves and similar appliances. At the same time, Colombia (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +3.0% from 2012-2022. Chile and Argentina experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Colombia (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest tap and valve supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 82% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Chile, with a 3.3% share.
In Brazil, tap and valve exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Argentina (-5.9% per year) and Chile (-1.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 15% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Colombia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (-0.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2022, the amount of taps, cocks, valves and similar appliances imported in MERCOSUR totaled X tons, surging by 4.5% against 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, tap and valve imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Brazil (X tons) was the main importer of taps, cocks, valves and similar appliances, mixing up 39% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons), Chile (X tons), Peru (X tons) and Colombia (X tons), together making up a 50% share of total imports. Ecuador (X tons) and Guyana (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
Imports into Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Guyana (+35.6%), Argentina (+3.4%), Peru (+2.4%) and Chile (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Guyana emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +35.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Ecuador (-1.5%) and Colombia (-3.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+8.6 p.p.), Argentina (+3.4 p.p.) and Guyana (+3.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Colombia saw its share reduced by -5.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported taps, cocks, valves and similar appliances in MERCOSUR, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Argentina ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Chile, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil amounted to +3.7%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Argentina (+2.9% per year) and Chile (+2.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 4.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the import price increased by 6.9% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Peru ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
