Television Receiver Market Size in MERCOSUR

The MERCOSUR television receiver market declined modestly to $X in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, overseas shipments of television receivers decreased by -23.7% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 514% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, television receiver exports expanded slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 189%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Brazil prevails in exports structure, accounting for X units, which was approx. 90% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Chile (X units), creating a 6.4% share of total exports.

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the television receivers exports, with a CAGR of +18.6% from 2012 to 2022. Chile (-9.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Brazil increased by +45 percentage points.

In value terms, the largest television receiver supplying countries in MERCOSUR were Brazil ($X) and Chile ($X).

In terms of the main exporting countries, Brazil, with a CAGR of +15.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, surging by 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 144%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Brazil stood at $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+15.4%).

Imports in MERCOSUR

Television receiver imports fell modestly to X units in 2022, with a decrease of -4% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, television receiver imports fell markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 34%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of television receiver imports in 2022 were Colombia (X units), Argentina (X units), Chile (X units) and Peru (X units), together finishing at 82% of total import. Brazil (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Ecuador (X units). All these countries together held near 9.4% share of total imports. Paraguay (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Argentina (with a CAGR of +11.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Colombia ($X), Peru ($X) and Chile ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 75% share of total imports. Ecuador, Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.

Argentina, with a CAGR of +4.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2022, waning by -19.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by 29%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per unit), while Argentina ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (-0.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
