The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
In value terms, tennis and badminton rackets imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 224% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Chile was the main importer of tennis, badminton or similar rackets in MERCOSUR, with the volume of imports accounting for X units, which was near 60% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X units), creating a 27% share of total imports. The following importers - Argentina (X units), Colombia (X units), Paraguay (X units) and Venezuela (X units) - together made up 10% of total imports.
Imports into Chile increased at an average annual rate of +20.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Paraguay (+22.0%) and Brazil (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Argentina (-2.7%) and Venezuela (-8.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Chile (+42 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela and Brazil saw its share reduced by -2.8%, -5.1%, -6.6% and -16.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest tennis and badminton rackets importing markets in MERCOSUR were Brazil ($X), Chile ($X) and Argentina ($X), with a combined 91% share of total imports.
Brazil, with a CAGR of +20.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
