Test Bench Market Size in MERCOSUR

The MERCOSUR test bench market declined to $X in 2022, waning by -5.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded resilient growth. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, test bench production fell to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 79%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

For the third year in a row, MERCOSUR recorded decline in shipments abroad of test benches, which decreased by -0.5% to X units in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 115%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, test bench exports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 48%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Brazil represented the key exporter of test benches in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports amounting to X units, which was approx. 47% of total exports in 2022. Colombia (X units) took a 17% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Argentina (15%), Paraguay (9.1%) and Chile (9%).

Brazil experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of test benches. At the same time, Colombia (+18.0%) and Paraguay (+16.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +18.0% from 2012-2022. Chile experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Argentina (-8.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Colombia and Paraguay increased by +14 and +7.1 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest test bench supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Paraguay ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Chile, with a 12% share.

In Brazil, test bench exports plunged by an average annual rate of -3.2% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Paraguay (+24.4% per year) and Chile (-0.9% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2022, with a decrease of -11.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a mild slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 59%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Paraguay ($X per unit), while Colombia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Paraguay (+7.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2022, imports of test benches in MERCOSUR expanded significantly to X units, increasing by 7.5% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, test bench imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a slight shrinkage. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Brazil (X units) was the main importer of test benches, committing 41% of total imports. Argentina (X units) took a 24% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Colombia (10%), Peru (9.4%) and Ecuador (5.9%). The following importers - Chile (X units) and Paraguay (X units) - together made up 5.6% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Paraguay (with a CAGR of +16.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported test benches in MERCOSUR, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Argentina ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Peru, with a 6.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil totaled -1.4%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Argentina (-0.7% per year) and Peru (+5.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 43% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Ecuador ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Paraguay (+8.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
