The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Brazil prevails in exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 86% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Chile (X tons), creating a 9.9% share of total exports. Argentina (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.
Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the tools of wood exports, with a CAGR of +2.6% from 2012 to 2021. Argentina experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Chile (-5.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Brazil increased by +13 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+1.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2021, purchases abroad of tools of wood increased by 28% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports posted strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 155%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, wood tool imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 144%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2017; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Peru (X tons), Colombia (X tons) and Chile (X tons) represented the major importer of tools of wood in MERCOSUR, making up 91% of total import. The following importers - Brazil (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) - together made up 6.2% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Chile (with a CAGR of +32.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest wood tool importing markets in MERCOSUR were Chile ($X), Peru ($X) and Colombia ($X), with a combined 87% share of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Peru, with a CAGR of +26.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
