The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, truck and bus tyre exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a noticeable downturn. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Brazil dominates exports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 84% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X units), achieving a 7.8% share of total exports. Ecuador (X units) and Peru (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the tyres for buses or lorries exports, with a CAGR of +4.0% from 2012 to 2022. Ecuador (-1.5%), Colombia (-2.7%) and Peru (-11.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+18 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Colombia and Peru saw its share reduced by -4.2% and -5.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Brazil was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Colombia (-5.7% per year) and Ecuador (-2.8% per year).

In 2022, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 22% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable setback. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ecuador (-1.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2022, imports of tyres for buses or lorries in MERCOSUR reached X units, surging by 5.3% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, truck and bus tyre imports amounted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Brazil represented the main importer of tyres for buses or lorries in MERCOSUR, with the volume of imports resulting at X units, which was near 33% of total imports in 2022. Chile (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Peru (X units), Colombia (X units), Paraguay (X units) and Argentina (X units). All these countries together took approx. 58% share of total imports. Ecuador (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Brazil increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Paraguay (+11.3%), Argentina (+6.9%) and Peru (+5.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Paraguay emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +11.3% from 2012-2022. Chile experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Colombia (-2.1%) and Ecuador (-4.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+11 p.p.), Paraguay (+5.2 p.p.), Peru (+3.9 p.p.) and Argentina (+3.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Ecuador (-2.9 p.p.), Chile (-5 p.p.) and Colombia (-5.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported tyres for buses or lorries in MERCOSUR, comprising 34% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 12% share.
In Brazil, truck and bus tyre imports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Chile (-9.0% per year) and Argentina (+1.7% per year).
