Chile represented the major exporter of umbrellas and walking-sticks in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports amounting to X units, which was near 69% of total exports in 2022. Brazil (X units) took a 20% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Colombia (7.9%).

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to umbrella and walking-stick exports from Chile stood at -12.4%. At the same time, Brazil (+13.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. In Chile, umbrella and walking-stick exports plunged by an average annual rate of -6.2% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (+5.2% per year) and Colombia (+8.8% per year).

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per unit in 2022, which is down by -9.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a buoyant increase. Moreover, Ecuador emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +1.2% from 2012-2022. Argentina experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Chile (-2.3%), Peru (-4.4%) and Colombia (-17.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+7 p.p.) and Argentina (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Colombia (-9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported umbrellas and walking-sticks in MERCOSUR, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Chile ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Argentina, with a 12% share.

In Brazil, umbrella and walking-stick imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Chile (+1.8% per year) and Argentina (+5.7% per year).
