As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The countries with the highest levels of uncoated kraft liner imports in 2021 were Chile (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and Colombia (X tons), together resulting at 78% of total import. It was distantly followed by Peru (X tons), creating a 13% share of total imports. Paraguay (X tons), Uruguay (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Colombia (with a CAGR of +21.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest uncoated kraft liner importing markets in MERCOSUR were Chile ($X), Argentina ($X) and Colombia ($X), with a combined 78% share of total imports.

Colombia, with a CAGR of +26.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Uruguay ($X per ton) and Argentina ($X per ton), while Ecuador ($X per ton) and Paraguay ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
