Vapour Generating Boiler Market Size in MERCOSUR

After two years of decline, the MERCOSUR vapour generating boiler market increased by 3.3% to $X in 2021. Overall, consumption, however, saw a noticeable shrinkage. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, vapour generating boiler production totaled $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, continues to indicate a mild contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 22%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in MERCOSUR

In 2021, approx. X tons of vapour generating boilers were exported in MERCOSUR; jumping by 71% compared with 2020 figures. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, vapour generating boiler exports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Brazil dominates exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 92% of total exports in 2021. Argentina (X tons) and Colombia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the vapour generating boilers exports, with a CAGR of +4.9% from 2012 to 2021. Colombia (-13.5%) and Argentina (-20.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Brazil increased by +34 percentage points.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest vapour generating boiler supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 82% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Argentina ($X), with a 7.3% share of total exports.

In Brazil, vapour generating boiler exports decreased by an average annual rate of -2.2% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Argentina (-16.7% per year) and Colombia (-18.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 26% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per ton), while Brazil ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of vapour generating boilers, when their volume increased by 48% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 49%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, vapour generating boiler imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 43%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Chile represented the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which reached 43% of total imports. Paraguay (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Argentina (X tons), Peru (X tons), Ecuador (X tons) and Colombia (X tons). All these countries together took near 52% share of total imports. Brazil (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Chile increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Argentina (+22.2%) and Paraguay (+7.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Argentina emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +22.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Ecuador (-6.4%), Peru (-8.6%), Brazil (-12.1%) and Colombia (-15.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Chile, Argentina and Paraguay increased by +29, +13 and +10 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Chile ($X), Argentina ($X) and Brazil ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 58% share of total imports.

Argentina, with a CAGR of +15.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, waning by -12.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the import price increased by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+5.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
