Laundry machine exports rose notably to X units in 2021, increasing by 15% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 98%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, laundry machine exports dropped sharply to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by 153% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Chile represented the largest exporter of washing, bleaching or dyeing machines in MERCOSUR, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was approx. 46% of total exports in 2021. Ecuador (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 20% share, followed by Colombia (14%) and Venezuela (11%). The following exporters - Brazil (X units) and Peru (X units) - each accounted for a 7.5% share of total exports.

Exports from Chile increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Peru (+33.0%) and Ecuador (+20.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +33.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Venezuela (-5.9%), Colombia (-17.5%) and Brazil (-29.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Chile (+35 p.p.), Ecuador (+18 p.p.), Peru (+3.6 p.p.) and Venezuela (+2.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Colombia and Brazil saw its share reduced by -20.4% and -35% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Brazil ($X), Chile ($X) and Ecuador ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 81% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Peru, Venezuela and Colombia, which together accounted for a further 15%.

Among the main exporting countries, Peru, with a CAGR of +25.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -36.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 222% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per unit), while Colombia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Venezuela (+21.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Laundry machine imports soared to X units in 2021, rising by 30% against 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a drastic downturn. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Brazil was the main importer of washing, bleaching or dyeing machines in MERCOSUR, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was approx. 60% of total imports in 2021. Chile (X units) took a 21% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Peru (8.8%) and Colombia (5.2%). The following importers - Paraguay (X units) and Ecuador (X units) - each finished at a 4% share of total imports.

Brazil was also the fastest-growing in terms of the washing, bleaching or dyeing machines imports, with a CAGR of +19.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Chile (+15.8%) and Colombia (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Peru (-1.3%), Paraguay (-16.0%) and Ecuador (-28.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (+53 p.p.), Chile (+18 p.p.), Peru (+3.5 p.p.) and Colombia (+3.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Paraguay and Ecuador saw its share reduced by -3.5% and -17.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported washing, bleaching or dyeing machines in MERCOSUR, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Peru ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 15% share.

In Brazil, laundry machine imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Peru (-3.2% per year) and Colombia (-0.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, surging by 25% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a noticeable expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per unit), while Paraguay ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
