In value terms, Argentina ($X), Brazil ($X) and Colombia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 95% share of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Colombia, with a CAGR of +4.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 90% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a slight expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the export price increased by 107% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+5.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2021, overseas purchases of welded link chain of iron or steel increased by 57% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports posted a perceptible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 262%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, metal welded link chain imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports enjoyed a slight increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 220% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Brazil (X tons) was the main importer of welded link chain of iron or steel, making up 47% of total imports. Chile (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 27% share, followed by Peru (7.4%), Argentina (5.8%) and Colombia (5.5%). Ecuador (X tons) and Paraguay (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Ecuador ($X per ton) and Chile ($X per ton), while Peru ($X per ton) and Paraguay ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+1.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
