The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 37%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Argentina dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 89% of total exports in 2022. The following exporters - Brazil (X tons), Paraguay (X tons) and Uruguay (X tons) - together made up 10% of total exports.
Exports from Argentina decreased at an average annual rate of -7.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Brazil (+38.5%) and Paraguay (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brazil emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MERCOSUR, with a CAGR of +38.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Uruguay (-11.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+4 p.p.) and Paraguay (+2.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Argentina (-5.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Argentina ($X) remains the largest wheat and meslin flour supplier in MERCOSUR, comprising 86% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a 6% share of total exports. It was followed by Paraguay, with a 4.1% share.
In Argentina, wheat and meslin flour exports contracted by an average annual rate of -5.3% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Brazil (+38.9% per year) and Paraguay (+6.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 38% against the previous year. Export price indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, wheat and meslin flour export price increased by +63.2% against 2017 indices. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Argentina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (+3.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2022, overseas purchases of wheat and meslin flour were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 28%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wheat and meslin flour imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 28%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Brazil (X tons) and Venezuela (X tons) prevails in imports structure, together creating 92% of total imports. Chile (X tons) and Suriname (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Venezuela (with a CAGR of +60.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Brazil ($X), Venezuela ($X) and Chile ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 95% share of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Venezuela, with a CAGR of +53.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Import price indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, wheat and meslin flour import price increased by +51.7% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 35%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
