Exports by Country
Venezuela (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) dominates exports structure, together creating 92% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons), mixing up a 5.4% share of total exports. Chile (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Chile (with a CAGR of +88.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, the largest worked flat glass supplying countries in MERCOSUR were Venezuela ($X), Argentina ($X) and Brazil ($X), together comprising 95% of total exports. Chile lagged somewhat behind, accounting for a further 4%.
Chile, with a CAGR of +65.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per ton, waning by -8.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 44%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while Argentina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (-3.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MERCOSUR
In 2021, the amount of worked flat glass imported in MERCOSUR skyrocketed to X tons, growing by 17% compared with 2020 figures. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +74.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 49%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, worked flat glass imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Peru (X tons) represented the major importer of worked flat glass, creating 51% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Chile (X tons), Brazil (X tons) and Colombia (X tons), together committing a 38% share of total imports. Ecuador (X tons), Guyana (X tons) and Paraguay (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.
Peru was also the fastest-growing in terms of the worked flat glass imports, with a CAGR of +59.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Colombia (+22.1%), Paraguay (+10.6%) and Chile (+10.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Brazil (-6.7%), Ecuador (-7.0%) and Guyana (-7.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Peru, Colombia and Chile increased by +50, +4.7 and +3.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Brazil ($X), Peru ($X) and Chile ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 69% of total imports.
Peru, with a CAGR of +40.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MERCOSUR stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 3.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a abrupt decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 7% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ecuador ($X per ton), while Peru ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
