The average artificial staple fibre export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 7.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price posted a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, artificial staple fibre imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a buoyant expansion. In 2021, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest artificial staple fibre supplier to Mexico, with a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, artificial staple fibre imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Spain (X tons), with a 9.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from the United States stood at +19.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+52.8% per year) and Spain (+50.8% per year).

In terms of the main suppliers, Italy, with a CAGR of +41.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average artificial staple fibre import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -38.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 61%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
