The average banana and plantain export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 4.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Banana and plantain imports into Mexico fell significantly to X tons in 2022, reducing by -80% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports saw a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 694%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, banana and plantain imports fell remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports faced a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 242%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest banana and plantain supplier to Mexico, with a 88% share of total imports. Moreover, banana and plantain imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from the United States totaled -8.7%.
In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of bananas and plantains to Mexico, comprising 75% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Spain ($X), with a 13% share of total imports.
