The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 214% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The United States (X tons) was the main destination for bromides, iodides and oxids thereof exports from Mexico, accounting for a 73% share of total exports. Moreover, bromides, iodides and oxids thereof exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Colombia (X tons), tenfold. Venezuela (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 4% share.

In value terms, the United States ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for bromides and bromide oxides, iodides and iodide oxides exports from Mexico, comprising 48% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Venezuela ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Guatemala, with a 4.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to the United States stood at +6.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Venezuela (+28.1% per year) and Guatemala (-4.5% per year).

Bromides, iodides and oxids thereof imports into Mexico contracted markedly to X tons in 2021, reducing by -84.4% on 2020. In general, imports saw a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 155%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, bromides, iodides and oxids thereof imports declined sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 107% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Israel (X tons), the United States (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of bromides, iodides and oxids thereof imports to Mexico, together accounting for 91% of total imports. These countries were followed by Chile, Japan and France, which together accounted for a further 5.9%.
