Other Cereals Market Size in Mexico

In 2021, after three years of growth, there was decline in the Mexican other cereals market, when its value decreased by -4.9% to $X. Overall, consumption, however, saw a significant increase. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Other Cereals Production in Mexico

In value terms, other cereals production dropped to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the production volume increased by 289% against the previous year. Other cereals production peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

The average yield of other cerealses in Mexico fell to X tons per ha in 2021, therefore, remained relatively stable against 2020. In 2021, overseas shipments of other cerealses decreased by -56.8% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 131% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, other cereals exports reduced rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by 256%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X tons), Chile (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of other cereals exports from Mexico, with a combined 97% share of total exports.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 121%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, purchases abroad of other cerealses decreased by -86.3% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports, however, saw a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 327% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, other cereals imports reduced dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 400% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Bolivia (X tons), Peru (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of other cereals imports to Mexico, together accounting for 97% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Bolivia (with a CAGR of +178.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
